Number 2: Toxicity

The cover of Toxicity

Another album that really needs no introduction, Toxicity is System of a Down's greatest album and it isn't even really close. Everyone's heard Chop Suey so not gonna bore you with talking about that, but the other tracks on the album are absolutely phenomenal, such as the title track, Shimmy, and Science being some of my favorite songs and having been for years at this point, I can sing every word of Shimmy and Science from the top of my head at this point. Toxicity was one of two albums that I listened to when I was getting back into non-game music, having listened to nothing but video game soundtracks from 2015 to 2018, it took me playing THPS and getting into the soundtracks that I started exploring music, with both this album and Bad Religion's Recipe For Hate being the first two albums I had saved to my phone, and the rest is history. Other tracks worth mentioning are ATWA and Forest for showing off Serj's (and Daron's) incredible vocal talent(s). The writing is also surprisingly clear for SOAD, especially compared to their first album, with the biting satire of various elements of the US such as its prison system (Prison Song) and police brutality (Deer Dance), sadly remaining relevant to this day, with their commentary ramping up after this album. Special mention to the Japanese version of Toxicity for introducing me to one of my favorite System of a Down songs, Johnny, also containing one of their best riffs and Serj's best vocals. Just an all around amazing album I can endlessly relisten to and never tire of it.
